  1. Have you read The Difference Engine by the Gibson and Sterling? I think it’s an appropriate read for such an occasion as it hypothesizes about what society might have looked like had the computer age been ushered in a century early as the result of Ada’s ideas being put to practical use. Also, its amusing to think of Lord Byron as prime minister of England while Benjamin Disraeli became a writer.
